MR144: Volkswagon Golf R

MK7 Volkswagen Golf R
MPG: 23 City / 30 Highway
Power: 296 bhp / 280 lb-ft

The Golf R is no newcomer in tuner circles. The AWD variant of the Golf GTI boasts nearly 80-horsepower over it’s more pedestrian trim model and is arguably one of the most capable hot hatches on the market. While both models still retain impressive fuel-efficiency, the Golf R gets our vote for one of the best combinations of power, efficiency, and handling. Check out how our MR144 in Hyper Silver transforms this MK7 R.

MR148: Honda Civic Type R

Honda Civic Type R
MPG: 22 City / 28 Highway
Power: 306 bhp / 295 lb-ft

The long-overdue and highly anticipated Civic Type R debuted in 2017 and has since proven itself as a performance-forward platform with gobs of power potential. Not only is the Type R designed with stunning angular accents and race-bred aero, but it’s horsepower-per-MPG makes for a track proven racer and an eligible daily driver. Our MR148 CS13 wheel is a great addition for Type R owners looking to shed their massive stock 20” wheels in favor for a performance-minded solution.

MR154: Subaru STI

Subaru WRX STi
MPG: 16 City / 22 Highway
Power: 305 bhp / 290 lb-ft

While the WRX STI might not be the posterchild for fuel-efficient performance, there’s no denying the 2.5L boxer isn’t a great mix of sound, performance, and superior handling with “enough” MPGs to merit our pick. With its distinguished rumble, articulated driving modes, and iconic racing heritage, the STI is a great daily for our northeastern US Motegi team. Add some flare to your STI with our MR154 in Midnight Blue.

MR153: Audi RS3

Audi RS 3
MPG: 19 City / 28 Highway
Power: 394 bhp / 354 lb-ft

Despite not being the most price-friendly pick on this list, the Audi S and RS series cars pack an incredible amount of power with efficiency numbers to match. The 5-cylinder, turbocharged motor shares the same displacement as its Subaru rival but delivers a steady torque curve and exceptional handling with its race-proven Quattro AWD. The Motegi MR153 is a great stylistic choice for the RS 3 with its classic, split-spoke design, and stepped lip.

MR405: Focus RS

Ford Focus RS
MPG: 19 city / 25 Highway
Power: 350 bhp / 350 lb-ft

The Focus RS has held the throne as a 4-cylinder turbo powerhouse since its arrival in 2016. The RS pushes an impressive 100 hp over the already-impressive ST trim, with its GKN AWD system adding an incredible handling experience. The RS is a great rally-inspired hot hatch with the ability to get you to and from the track with minimal stops at the pump.
