Scuderia Corsa Adds Nine More Victories to Ferrari Challenge Tally in New York, Continuing Momentum to Road America

-14 Podiums at Scenic Watkins Glen International

-IMSA Program Readies for Next Round at Road America, adding Alessandro Pier Guidi to Driver Line Up

With the historic Watkins Glen International setting the backdrop for the most recent round of Ferrari Challenge North American competition, Scuderia Corsa would enjoy yet another banner weekend with nine victories and 14 total podiums.

Returning to one of North America’s most heralded courses, both drivers and friends enjoyed all that a “Challenge” weekend has to offer, celebrating Ferrari heritage in addition to watching a full field of Ferrari machines go wheel-to-wheel.

Continuing a remarkable 2018 Ferrari Challenge season, drivers Cooper MacNeil and Thomas Tippl would headline the weekend, with MacNeil winning the premier Trofeo Pirelli, and Tippl conquering Coppa Shell. Additionally, Mark Fuller and Chris Carel would sweep their weekends with P2 and P3 podiums respectively, and Brad Smith would follow suit with P3 in Coppa Shell Am. Continuing an award-winning weekend, Lisa Clark would take Saturday’s Ladies’ Cup, and the team would receive four Coppa Shell awards for their efforts. Beyond the podium, a strong weekend was enjoyed by all, including drivers Jim Camp, Neil Langberg, Oscar Parades-Arroyo, and Angie King.

With the summer racing season in full swing, Scuderia Corsa is already turning their attention to the next event, returning to IMSA competition at the legendary Road America. Set in the destination village of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Cooper MacNeil will return to the No. 63 Ferrari 488 GT3, who will be joined this weekend by noted Ferrari driver Alessandro Pier Guidi. Reigning World Endurance Champion and former Daytona 24 Hour winner with Ferrari, Pier Guidi returns to Scuderia Corsa having raced for the team in 2013 and 2016.

For Team Owner, Giacomo Mattioli, a successful weekend in upstate New York is a perfect highlight to a strong few weeks.

“After our IMSA podium last weekend, continuing that momentum to our Ferrari Challenge program is a great feeling,” stated Mattioli. “Cooper and Thomas were extraordinary all weekend, as was our entire driver line up. We hope to carry this in to our next IMSA event at Road America this weekend. Having Alessandro Pier Guidi from the factory back in the car, it’s an important sign of support from Ferrari at this crucial time and we hope to capitalize.”

Practice begins this Friday, August 3, with race action taking place on Sunday, August 5. The race will begin at 2:30PM ET and can be followed live on FS1 or the FOX Sports Go in the US, or via imsaradio.com or imsa.tv for international viewers.
